Find Your Tier For Each Alteration

Every gown is different- and the way yours is built can change what's needed for each alteration. Some dresses have a simple hem but an ornate bustle or the opposite.

To give you the most accurate quote we group each area of your dress into one of three tiers: Classic, Refined or Ornate. You might find your dress includes a mix.

Use the guide below to help decide which tier best fits each part of your gown.

Bodice

Classic: Minimalist fabric like crepe or satin, no lace appliques or beading in the area being altered.

Refined: Built-in support (like boning), small illusion panels, or light lace and beading.

Ornate: Heavy lace, large illusion panels, hand pleating, or detailed beadwork.

Hem

Classic: Simple straight or floor-length silhouette with visible stitching and 1-2 layers of fabric.

Refined: Fit-and-flare, mermaid, or trumpet silhouette. Typically includes 3-4 layers or a stiff inner lining (like horsehair braid).

Ornate: Grand silhouettes (A-line or Ballgown) with 5+ layers, intricate trim, or embroidery.

Bustle

Classic: Sweep-length train, no lace or decorative embellishments.

Refined: Chapel-length train or dresses with multiple structured layers.

Ornate: Cathedral-length train with weighted lace or embellished detailing.
